New Jersey Department of Health Approves LabTurbo Antibiotic Resistance LDT for Clinical Testing

July 6, 2026

LabTurbo Biotech is pleased to announce that its Antibiotic Resistance (ABR) Laboratory Developed Test (LDT) has received approval from the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) for clinical diagnostic testing.

This milestone expands LabTurbo's growing portfolio of clinically validated molecular diagnostic assays and reinforces our commitment to providing healthcare providers with rapid, accurate, and actionable diagnostic solutions.

Traditional antimicrobial susceptibility testing often requires bacterial culture, resulting in turnaround times of 48 to 72 hours or longer before clinicians receive information regarding potential antibiotic resistance. LabTurbo's molecular Antibiotic Resistance LDT significantly shortens this timeline by detecting clinically important antimicrobial resistance genes directly from patient specimens using real-time PCR technology.

The LabTurbo ABR PCR Kit identifies a broad range of resistance mechanisms associated with commonly prescribed antibiotics, including genes responsible for carbapenem resistance, extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) production, methicillin resistance, vancomycin resistance, macrolide resistance, tetracycline resistance, sulfonamide resistance, quinolone resistance, and trimethoprim resistance.

Rapid identification of these resistance markers allows physicians to make more informed treatment decisions, reduce unnecessary broad-spectrum antibiotic use, and support antimicrobial stewardship initiatives aimed at slowing the spread of drug-resistant organisms.

The LabTurbo ABR PCR Kit is performed in LabTurbo's CLIA-certified clinical laboratory using the LabTurbo AIO 48 validated molecular workflow and rigorous quality control procedures to ensure reliable clinical performance.

"This approval represents another important milestone for our laboratory," said Evan Lin, CEO at LabTurbo Biotech LLC. "As antibiotic resistance continues to become one of healthcare's most significant challenges, providing clinicians with rapid molecular resistance information can help improve patient management while supporting responsible antibiotic prescribing."

The addition of the Antibiotic Resistance LDT further strengthens LabTurbo's expanding molecular testing menu, which includes respiratory pathogen testing, urinary tract infection testing, sexually transmitted infection testing, oncology assays, and other advanced PCR-based diagnostics.

LabTurbo Biotech remains committed to developing innovative molecular diagnostic solutions that improve laboratory efficiency while delivering clinically meaningful results with rapid turnaround times.
